Things From Missouri

Took a little trip back to Missouri last weekend and let me tell you,  I LOVE Wisconsins summers.  It was sooo hot in Missouri.  But did have a few good things happen when I was there.  Things like a lunch that Chris planned and Dad had to take care of.  Boy did he take care of it too.  He ordered out for fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and bread.  Plus, he made the best potato salad ever and for desert, Drum roll please,  French Silk Pie.  Have I told you that he is my favorite Dad?
I also got invited over to my baby's apartment for dinner.  Which I ended up cooking.  Weird how that worked out.  It was actually a pretty clean place.  Strange things happens when kids are responsible for their own stuff.
Plus I got to watch my blue eyed boy participate in a relay triathalon.  He did the running part.  I was proud, as was his beautiful wife.  She was so excited I thought she was going to wet herself.  They are such a cute couple! I love them.
So, I brought home a few things with me from the trip and and here are some pictures.

Adrian and a giant Cantelope

A box of canning tomatoes and a few peppers from my Amish friend Esther.
I miss visiting her family.

Some freshly picked sweet corn. Also from Esther.

And last but not least, the beautiful vase on the left.  I eyed it at my Dad's house and he let me have it to place in the kitchen window next to the wine bottle that I bought. Beautiful.

Variety- the spice of life.

We had a busy 4th of July weekend.  So, with that being said, here is a smorgasbord of photos that were taken.
First thing Saturday morning we went with the Olsen's to pick strawberries.

I'm pretty sure more got eaten than placed in the buckets.  Just look at the proof on their faces.

Later we went to their house to play some yard games.  See that field in the back?  Well, black bears have been seen in it.  Not by Kelly unfortunately.  Ya, see that is his mission in Wisconsin.  To see a bear in the wild.  He is on a quest.  We drive around the country side and stare though binoculars hoping to spot one.  We had a near sighting once.  He was driving and I was the spotter.  After many wasted views through the lenses he slammed on the breaks.  "Whats that on the road?"  I just looked at him with doubt.  "I'm serious!" I could just here the adrenalin seeping out of him.  Maybe he was right this time.  I quickly put the binoculars back to my face and began focusing in on the dark object ahead of us.  "WELL!  Its a bear isnt it!"  "Um  no its a mailbox"  Lots of giggling by me.

Later there were water wars.  How can some one even consider dousing such a small sweet child with water like that?

Guess the little man can hold his own.

And then there was sweet Hailey.  Just working away on that little thumb.

BIL Rocky manning the grill. The kabobs were AWESOME.

Later we took a drive and spotted this female pheasant on the roadside.  My Superman was nice enough to stop on the road and back up so I could get out and take some shots.  He is getting really good about that now.  Making random stops for me.  It is almost part of the norm now.

This is our favorite place now.  Not sure why exactly.  We just love it.
It's quietness calls to us.
(Now that's an oxymoron if I ever heard one)

You may think this is a rabbit but it's not.
It is a Snow Shoe Hare to be exact. They turn white in the winter.
First time I have ever seen one.
It just looked giant compared to the bunny foo foo's I am used to seeing.

There are also a lot of these little For-Get-Me-Nots at Diamond Lake.  There are so few flowers that are actually true blue. I love them.

Yes, these are my feet.  Nothing exciting about them except the fact that they are standing in Lake Superior.  Another first for me.

Here is a picture of Lake Superior from the bay in Ashland.
That concrete path winds around the lake for 6 miles. Are you wondering if I walked it?  Ha ha.  I walked about a block of.  That was it for me.

So there ya go.  That was my weekend.  How was yours?
